Born of Fire Ceramics- Art

I work on common forms- bowls, vases, mugs and cups. These are the vessels people use. This is art that can live in a person's home and in the hands. Making these pieces is akin to playing music or writing a poem in a standard form. The variation is in the balance of the form's lines and the way color plays on its surface. Another aspect I delight in is the unexpected way the materials interact with the fire, always producing something I did not look for but rejoice in finding.

I love making polished work with piercings. The Table Gardens and Candle Pots are two forms that use this technique. The lacey quality of these pieces open up the forms. With plants growing through the openings, or candle light shining through makes the interior space surrounded by the clay part of the experience.
